Events in December 2015

                                                                  December 2015

We attended zone meeting with the faithful elders and sisters of the Logan Zone.

Missionaries in the Coomera Zone prepare for Stake Conference
to ask members to give away a Book of Mormon to a friend.

A nativity scene with a live Mary, Joseph and baby created
a special feeling for the visitors.

Cleveland and Brisbane Stakes hosted the "Joy to the World" musical evening. Several groups performed on the temple grounds before the program inside the chapel.
We worked with President Fell of the Cleveland Stake
during the first year of our mission.  His wife and a recent
convert, Katie, attended the program with him.

We invited a few of the residents of the Ellington Complex
where we live to come to a Christmas social.
Ann Maree Porter, Moi Wong See and Phyllis Latu
enjoy the outdoor setting by the pool.

Jeff and Moi Wong See with us.  Moi made the lei
for me from flowers in the nearby bushes.

The men from the Latu family loved the food.

Eileen Phillips and her children enjoyed the party.

P-Day on Stradbroke Island

We spent part of a day visiting "Straddie" as the Australians call it - a
lovely island east of the mainland that is not commercialized at all.
We followed a trail that wound above the shoreline.
The breeze was pleasant and the view spectacular.

The beach stretched for miles with not a person in sight.
The access is very limited to a sand buggy.
We were joined by Elder and Sister Mizukawa for a stroll along
an accessible beach to look for shells and dip our feet in the ocean.
This was our third visit to the ocean during our mission.

Mission Senior Conference

Senior Conference - November 2015
The training sessions were so uplifting and helpful.
We gained insights from the other senior couples.

Real plays are a part of the ABM even for senior missionaries!
We visited Mt Cootha lookout for a great view of Brisbane.
Maxi Taxis are the preferred mode of transportation to avoid high priced parking.

We boarded a boat for a dinner cruise down the Brisbane River one evening.

Elder Mizukawa is sitting at General McArthur's desk in the McArthur Museum.

Our official picture was taken on the temple grounds after a training session.
We visited the botanical gardens for a leisurely afternoon walk.
The final devotional was filled with the spirit.

Mission

The Australia Brisbane Mission now has 72 hour emergency packs for each missionary.  It was a huge project to collect and organize all the contents.  Many hands made the work easier.  We had a good time as we worked together to prepare 210 backpacks.

Senior couples spearheaded the project.

At Elder and Sister Richin's flat we had an organized system to fit everything in the packs.  Everyone had a job to do.

The senior couples were so grateful for the help from
the full-time elders to lift and carry heavy items.

Young men from the ward took time from their school
break to serve the Australia Brisbane Mission.
We completed the project in 3 hours with so many wonderful workers.
Distribution of the backpacks was done at each zone conference.

Mission

All these pictures were taken at the Toowoomba Flower Festival in September.
We spent a lovely afternoon with the senior couples viewing God's glorious creations.
